Single Father

Becoming a Single Father and Continuing to Have Fun

The first few days, weeks, months or years after you became divorced, must have been a miserable, devastating, broken and depressed part of your life. It can sometimes be overwhelming to become a single parent, and stressful too, right after the full realization that you will raise your child on your own. I think because you are a loving father, you focus so much on the happiness of your children that you even question the possibility to have some fun from time to time. Your world revolves around their needs now and prioritizing what is best for them is the most important thing that leaves you with such a little time to have some fun for the sake of your own happiness. Nevertheless, the truth is that there are numerous ways to still have fun while at the same time taking good care of your kids.

Find the Way That Makes You Kick Back and Relax the Most

Despite all the difficulties of being a single parent, you can still have fun. Well, not the fun that you had during that unforgettable bachelor party but the fun you need could help you relax and increase your overall wellbeing without neglecting the needs of your children. You can always start plans by taking a little break from work.

It’s difficult to be a father when you are working and raising children at the same time. Try to take time off from work and spend the day doing fun activities with your child. It benefits both of you when you have free time to relax and socialize. Also, take some time to be alone. As a busy parent, being always “on the move” does not give your brain or your body the opportunity to rest.

Spending time alone without distractions gives you the opportunity to think more clearly. It is an opportunity to relax both your mind and your body at the same time. After your child goes to bed at night, take a few minutes to listen to your favorite music, read a book, pray or simply rest. It is never a bad idea to spend some time with old friends.

Parenting takes so much time from your daily activities that we all eventually forget about our old palls. Life just gets so much easier somehow when you hang out and catch up with them. However, be sure to find someone you can trust to take care of your child for a few hours before going out with friends. Visiting a family member that you share a special bond is never a bad idea also. You may want to plan ahead to visit a family member but that can also be an opportunity to bring kids with you. You can visit them during holidays or school vacations if they are living somewhere distant. During your visit, don’t hesitate to ask for helpful advice about parenting, they probably have a word or two that will be more than helpful for you.

Remember, raising children is the most serious work there is. You are not helping yourself or your child if you do not take the time to avoid the grey dull reality that you can easily create. We all feel frustrated and overwhelmed, and things could get out of control if we forget about ourselves for the sake of children. Therefore, find time to relax and have fun since your health will be the most grateful for such a decision!
